MANCHESTER – Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League shrank to seven points after a thrilling 3-3 draw with Newcastle on Wednesday.

Chelsea moved into second place with a 5-1 win over bottom-placed Southampton, while Manchester City ended their seven-game winning streak with a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool’s result will give hope to their title rivals after Fabian Schar scored a 90th-minute equalizer at St James’ Park.

Arne Slot’s team came from behind twice and took the lead in the 83rd minute with Mohamed Salah’s second goal of the game. However, an eighth win in a row was denied as Newcastle staged a comeback of their own.
