LSU missed out on one of the best players in the transfer portal and chose another SEC school.

According to a report from On3, wide receiver Eric Singleton committed to Auburn on Monday. In the On3 industry ranking, Singleton was named the second best transfer candidate in the country. LSU and Auburn made Singleton’s top five for potential landing destinations, along with Texas, Miami and Ole Miss.

Singleton spent his first two years of college football at Georgia Tech. In 2024, he caught 56 passes for 754 yards and added 131 rushing yards. A versatile playmaker who contributes to the passing and running games, Singleton will cause problems for conference teams on defense.

Landing Singleton would have been a game-changer for the Tigers, who needed wide receivers after Kyren Lacy declared for the NFL draft and CJ Daniels, among others, entered the transfer portal.

The purple-and-gold secured commitments from transfer wideouts Nic Anderson, Destyn Hill and Barion Brown, but adding a versatile athlete like Singleton would have made the room even bigger.
