Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant for LSU receiver Kyren Lacy on charges of involuntary manslaughter and hit-and-run.

According to an LSP report, Lacy is accused of speeding away from the scene of an accident on Louisiana Highway 20 on December 17th. The accident killed 78-year-old Herman Hall and injured two others. The LSP said that after a post-crash investigation, they determined that Lacy was the driver of the car and obtained a warrant in his name.

The Thibodaux, Louisiana native recently completed his fifth season of college football and turned 24 years old on December 27th.

From the LSP press release:

The investigation revealed that the accident occurred as a 2023 Dodge Charger was traveling south on LA Highway 20. The driver of the Dodge, later identified as 24-year-old Kyren Lacy of Thibodaux, recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed crossing the center line and entering the northbound lane while in a posted no-passing zone. As Lacy illegally passed the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup suddenly braked and turned right to avoid a head-on collision with the oncoming Dodge. Behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza, whose driver swerved to the left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza swerved to avoid the collision with the Dodge, it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento. After the accident, Lacy drove around the scene and fled south on LA Highway 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the accident. Troop C was later informed that Hall, who was a passenger in the Kia Sorrento, succumbed to his injuries from the accident after being taken to hospital for treatment.

Lacy’s agent, Rocky Arceneaux, released a statement saying the wideout was cooperating with police.

“We are aware of the allegations that have been made against Kyren Lacy and we would like to take this opportunity to address them,” Arceneaux wrote. “First and foremost, Kyren cooperates with the authorities. We firmly believe that the facts will ultimately reveal the truth, but we respect the need for a full and thorough investigation.”

“We recognize the concerns and questions that may arise from these recent allegations. We would like to reassure everyone directly or indirectly affected that this matter is taken very seriously and we are committed to resolving it responsibly.”

Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on Dec. 19, two days after the crash, and sat out LSU’s Texas Bowl win over Baylor. Louisiana State Police said they contacted Lacy and his attorneys because the bankruptcy trustee turned himself in to police.

Lacy spent three seasons at LSU after starting his college career at Louisiana. He broke out the last two seasons with 30 catches for 558 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. In 2024, Lacy had 58 catches for 866 yards and nine touchdowns. He was LSU’s second-leading WR in yards and had a team-leading nine touchdown catches.
