Luka Doncic of the Mavericks was named the Western Conference Player of the Week

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for Week 7 of the NBA season (December 2-8). Doncic averaged 29.3 PPG, 11.7 RPG and 8.3 APG while leading the Mavs to a 3-0 record with wins over the Memphis Grizzlies, Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors. Two of those games included triple-doubles, making Doncic the 7th most triple-doubles in NBA history.

Doncic won this week’s award ahead of other nominees such as Anthony Edwards, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Nikola Jokic and Domantas Sabonis.

Nikola Jokic likely would have won the award had his Nuggets not lost to the Wizards over the weekend, giving Washington its first win since October. He averaged 42.3 PPG, 15.0 RPG and 8.3 APG, but his team was just 2-2 last week.

This is Doncic’s 14th Player of the Week award, most recently winning it on April 1 of the 2023-24 season. Kyrie Irving is the youngest Maverick to win the award, as he won it the following week after Doncic’s last win.

According to the Mavericks’ public relations team, Doncic’s 14 Player of the Week wins since the 2019-20 season are the most of any Western Conference player during that period.

Miami Heat’s Tyler Herro was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
