Jimmy Fallon became an instant trending topic thanks to his unusual ensemble choice at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday.

The 50-year-old “Tonight Show” star sent viewers into a frenzy as he rocked black sunglasses despite standing under an umbrella in the pouring rain.

Fans immediately concluded that the star must have been trying to hide any evidence of a “bender” from the night before and took to social media to share their amusement.

A century after the first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the annual holiday tradition kicked off again today in New York City with a star-studded cast of performances from the likes of Jennifer Hudson and Idina Menzel.

This year’s parade features 17 giant helium-filled character balloons, 22 floats, 15 inflatable novelties and traditions, 11 marching bands, 700 clowns, 10 performance groups, award-winning singers and actors, and the WNBA champion New York Liberty.

A new float will spotlight food brand Rao’s and feature a knight and a dragon in battle, made from real pasta elements.

Another will celebrate the Bronx Zoo’s 125th anniversary with depictions of a tiger, giraffe, zebra and gorilla.

However, one of the floats quickly went viral for all the wrong reasons after fans of the hit Netflix show shared their thoughts about the addition on Wednesday.

On the float, the character Wednesday Addams was as festive as ever – serving her brother Pugsley’s head on a platter with Thing at her side.

The parade begins at 8:30 a.m. on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and then ends around noon at the Macy’s Herald Square flagship store on 34th Street, 2.5 miles away, which serves as a stage and backdrop for performances.

Despite the downpour, the parade went ahead – it has only been canceled three times since 1924.

As millions of Americans tuned in to watch the parade from the warmth of their homes, they noted the lack of crowds and muted performances.

“I’m going to start cooking because the Macy’s Day parade is sad,” one person said on X.

“The phrase ‘Don’t rain on my parade’ was coined specifically for the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade,” said another.

“What kind of mental illness do you have to have to stand in the rain all morning just to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade,” a third person said.

As dark clouds loomed over the show, some suggested changing the parade’s entire staging.

Earlier this week it was reported that NBC could be forced to pay three times its usual fee to retain broadcast rights to the annual parade.

The Comcast-owned network, which has held broadcast rights to the marquee television show since 1953, is currently trying to strike a new deal to keep the marquee event going for the next decade, according to The Wall Street Journal.

After typically paying $20 million for the privilege, sources told the WSJ the amount could rise to as much as $60 million.

The parade will air on NBC with hosts Savannah, Hoda and Al Roker and will be streamed simultaneously on the network’s Peacock service.
