After Wednesday’s loss to the Heat, Lakers fans were probably very upset.

Among those definitely dissatisfied was Lakers legend Magic Johnson, who said he was “embarrassed” for the team after the 134-93 loss to the Heat.

“I’m ashamed of the Lakers. At the end of the third quarter they were 32 points behind the Miami Heat 105-72,” Johnson wrote on X during the game.

It was the Lakers’ sixth loss in their last eight games, and the last two combined for 70 points.

Los Angeles (12-10) allowed 24 3-pointers – the third-most allowed by the Lakers in franchise history – and Anthony Davis scored just eight points on a dismal 3-of-14 shooting.

As a team, the Lakers shot 43 percent from the field and 22.7 percent from 3-point range.

“There has to be some personal responsibility. And I think when a group doesn’t do well, what happens, and it happens with bad teams, it happens with good teams, it happens with great teams. “You can splinter and it’s easy to not want the possession, especially when it’s embarrassing,” head coach JJ Redick told reporters on Wednesday.

“I’m embarrassed; It’s embarrassing for all of us. It’s not a game where I thought we had the right fight and the right professionalism. I’m not sure what was lost in translation. There has to be a certain level of personal responsibility on the pitch and I take all the personal responsibility in the world. This is my team and I lead it and I’m embarrassed. But I can’t organize us physically.

“I physically can’t play basketball. I can’t physically talk and physically call reds and coverage. That’s not it… I don’t, and by the way I don’t blame the players either. That’s not it. I own that, but I also need some ownership on the pitch. …I don’t feel like we’re together at the moment. And we say that in the huddle. Doesn’t feel like that. Doesn’t feel like that. And once again we find ourselves in a difficult phase. And we’re all trying to find it.”

The Lakers will look to stem their current losing streak with a win in the final game of their current road trip when they travel to Atlanta to take on the Hawks.
