Major road work on the North Shore will cause delays on Routes 36 and 96 next week

According to Caltrans, major road work is planned on the North Shore from Friday, January 3 through Thursday, January 9.

In Humboldt County, Caltrans said drivers should expect delays of 10 minutes Route 36 as bridge work continues near Pamplin Grove. They said there will be one-way traffic control. Additionally, guardrail work will begin Monday, January 6th from Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park to Van Duzen River Bridge 4-98. One-way traffic control is in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and drivers can expect 15-minute delays. Bridge work also continues on Route 36 east of Bridgeville.

To Route 96Caltrans said utility work will begin in Willow Creek, from Jct Route 299 to Mayfair Street, on Monday, Jan. 6. They said the one-way traffic control will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. They expect delays of around five minutes. Norton Creek utility work will be conducted overnight on Tuesday, January 7, with one-way traffic from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m

To US 101, Utility work in Eureka, from West Clark Street to Washington Street, will occur overnight Friday, Jan. 3, from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., Caltrans announced. They said tree work will also take place north of Eureka, near Jacobs Avenue, on Sunday, Jan. 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lanes will be closed and minor slowdowns can be expected. Construction will also take place at the Indianola Cutoff. Access to the 101 southbound is currently unavailable due to a medium closure. Drivers heading south should take an alternative route.

Route 254 There will be full closures between Hodges Road and Fish Creek Road. Caltrans advised motorists to use an alternate route..

The supply work continues Route 255 Traffic will begin Monday, Jan. 6, from New Navy Base Road to J Street in Arcata. One-way traffic runs from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Expect 5-minute delays.

Route 299 Construction is underway 11 miles from US 101. There will be additional work west of the East Fork Campground. Traffic is one-way and delays of 10 minutes may occur. Additionally, utility work on the Willow Creek Bridge will begin on Monday, January 13th. 6. Traffic is one-way from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Delays of 10 minutes are to be expected. Additional utility work will be performed from Jct Route 96 to Willow Road on Wednesday, January 8th. One-way traffic is in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Delays of 5 minutes can be expected.

Del Norte County It will also have to contend with road construction work on the highway. U.S. 101 The construction work on the Dr. Fine Bridge near Smith River will continue. One-way traffic control will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Drivers should expect delays of 10 minutes.

U.S. 199 There will be emergency work continuing west of Gasquet. One-way traffic regulations apply. Minor traffic losses are to be expected.
