Malcolm in the Middle returns with Frankie Muniz and Bryan Cranston

“Malcolm in the Middle” celebrates a family reunion.

The Emmy-nominated sitcom, which aired on Fox for seven seasons from 2000 to 2006, is set to return with four new episodes on Disney+. No premiere date has been announced.

The original series follows an eccentric American family with five sons, including the gifted genius Malcolm (played by Frankie Muniz), led by parents Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek). All three will return for the new episodes; no further casting announced.

The new Disney episodes follow Malcolm and his daughter as they get caught up in typical family chaos “when Hal and Lois demand his presence at their 40th birthday.”^ThWedding anniversary party,” says the streaming service.

“Malcolm in the Middle literally changed the face of the TV comedy landscape and redefined the genre when it premiered two decades ago,” Karey Burke, president of 20th Century Television, said in a statement Friday.

She continued, “When (creator) Linwood Boomer suggested it was time to bring everyone’s favorite dysfunctional family together for a little reunion, we couldn’t think of a more iconic and influential series to revisit, along with one “truly brilliant cast.” to reunite.

The return of “Malcolm” marks a brief return to acting for Muniz.

The 38-year-old “Agent Cody Banks” star announced in October that he was pursuing a full-time career as a NASCAR driver. Muniz will join Reaume Brothers Racing as the driver of the No. 33 F-150 in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Muniz, however, is used to switching gears and told Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” about the switch in the fall.

“If I want to compete full-time against drivers who – this is their life – I have to be as committed as they are. I can’t be part-time,” Muniz told “Fox & Friends.” Co-host Brian Kilmeade. “You can’t act on the side and do that. If you want to be really, really good at anything, you have to work for it, and that’s what I do.”
