Put Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley aside because there is a new rookie record holder for the New York Giants.

In the first quarter of a Week 16 game against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, wide receiver Malik Nabers caught a pass from quarterback Drew Lock, tying the team’s rookie record for receptions (91) in a single season.

Beckham Jr. set the record in 2014 and was later tied by Barkley in 2018.

On the next offensive series, Nabers set the new mark (92) with a six-yard reception.

Nabers was well aware of his place in Giants history heading into Sunday’s game, admitting earlier this week that he keeps track of all of his stats (and those of his teammates).

“Yeah, I’ll keep an eye on it. I’ll keep an eye on it,” he told reporters about the rookie receiving record.

Nabers was asked if one potential record stood out to him in particular.

“Everyone,” Nabers said. “They all just do that. If I can put my name in the record books, I will.”

And more records could come on Sunday or in the last two weeks.

Nabers needed just 97 yards to reach the 1,000-yard mark earlier in the day. Fellow rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. started Sunday and needed 85 yards from scrimmage to reach the same benchmark.

Should the pair reach or exceed the 1,000-yard mark, they would become only the third rookie duo in NFL history to achieve this feat, joining Marques Colston and Reggie Bush (2006) and Abner Haynes and Johnny Robinson (1960).
