Man charged after high-speed chase

DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (WKOW) – A Madison man is facing multiple charges after leading law enforcement on a chase and reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour Sunday morning.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office said that around 8:30 a.m., an officer noticed that a vehicle on South Madison Street in the town of Beaver Dam did not have a front license plate. After hitting the vehicle, the deputy noticed that there was no rear sign posted there either.

The deputy attempted to determine if a temporary license plate was displayed, but the vehicle “immediately accelerated away,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspect car then entered US Highway 151 southbound, reaching speeds of 100 miles per hour. The deputy pursued the vehicle, which maintained a speed of 90 to 100 mph for more than 16 miles.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Columbus Police and Dane County Sheriff’s Office were requested to assist, and a Columbus police officer was able to deploy a tire deflation device that deflated the right front tire of the suspect car.

The driver was identified as 31-year-old Isaiah Usher of Madison. He was taken to jail and charges will be filed with the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office.

Usher faces a felony count of fleeing an officer and a misdemeanor count of revoking an officer, and was also arrested on three outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions.
