The bad news is that it’s going to be a pretty active week. The good news is that it does not currently appear that any major or extremely devastating storms will occur.

Boston area weather forecast

Firstly, there will be a period of light to moderate rain between midnight and 5am, mostly overnight. A few lingering showers are possible between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. during Tuesday’s commute. On average, only expect about an inch of rain, so it’s a minor event.

We’ll have a nice clean out on Tuesday afternoon and get a little taste of spring! Highs will reach the mid 50s with plenty of sunshine in the afternoon.

Our next storm arrives later on Wednesday. Similar to tonight’s storm, it will largely occur overnight. This storm looks a little juicier and a little colder than its predecessor.

Expect rainfall from about 7:00 p.m. Wednesday through 7:00 a.m. Thursday, with a total of about 0.5 inches of liquid.

Snow in Massachusetts

As temperatures are slightly cooler, there is a chance of light snow at times north and west of Boston.

As you can see, the greatest chance of centimeter coverage is in the higher elevations of the Berkshires, southwestern New Hampshire, and far northern Worcester County (about 50%). The closer you live to Route 495, the less likely it is to snow.

Snow before Christmas?

Something to keep in mind for Friday night and Saturday.

A weak storm system will emerge from the Midwest. It is likely that it will shift its energy offshore and become a fairly strong offshore storm. At this point, it appears that the redevelopment will occur a little too late for New England to see significant rainfall.

We will definitely keep an eye on this and keep you updated as this may be our best and last chance for a local snowfall before Christmas.

Weather forecast for the weekend

The main story for the coming weekend right now is the cold. Another shot of very cold air will arrive Friday and bottom out over the weekend. Many areas will remain stuck in the 20s for several days.
