Notre Dame football defeated the Indiana Hoosiers 27-17 in the first round of the College Football Playoff, but not everything was rosy for the Irish.

Once again, several players suffered injuries and following the game, head coach Marcus Freeman updated the status of a very important part of the Irish offense. Star running back Jeremiyah Love was recovering from an injury and his coach told us he wasn’t 100%, but he didn’t look it on his long touchdown run.

Since he is Notre Dame’s best offensive player, he will need to be as healthy as possible as he prepares to face the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl. With over a week left before they meet on New Year’s Day, hopefully Love will have enough time to be as explosive as he was against Indiana.

Another serious injury occurred when defensive lineman Rylie Mills went down with a knee injury after a sack in the third quarter. Freeman told Scott Van Pelt, “It sounds like the season isn’t over yet,” but didn’t go into further detail. There is hope that Mills could be ready for the Bulldogs.
