Mark Andrews from the Baltimore Ravens takes advantage of his new playoff opportunity

Any chance to play postseason football is special, but for Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews, these playoffs will be especially meaningful.

Last season, Andrews was sidelined for an extended period of time for the first time in his career due to a serious leg injury. He missed the Divisional Round against the Houston Texans and while he returned for the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, he was far from 100 percent and played less than a third of the Ravens’ offensive snaps.

This season, Andrews is heading into the playoffs not only completely healthy, but also at full speed. The former All-Pro has scored a touchdown in six straight games, and although he didn’t score until Week 6, he led all tight ends this season with 11 touchdowns.

“It’s great to be in this position and have the incredible opportunity to play in the first round of the playoffs and work with this team and organization,” Andrews told reporters. “We have so many incredibly talented players and coaches. It’s a blessing to feel great.”

“We are moving in the right direction and getting better every week. It will come down to playing great football,” he continued.

No one is happier to have Andrews back for the postseason than star quarterback Lamar Jackson. The chemistry between the two has always been excellent, and as they play the best football of their careers, they look to do some serious damage in the playoffs.

“That’s what I always say – Mark is like a security blanket,” Jackson said Tuesday. “We’re like peanut butter and jelly – he’s that guy. The fact that he started slowly this year and people doubted him – I don’t know where Mark’s doubts came from. I just don’t know. It’s still amazing.” But for him to be a team player and help others open up and do this and do that and still have a great season, that just shows what kind of player Mark is and what he’s going to bring to the table Come run to this playoff run.”

In six career playoff games, Andrews has yet to score a single touchdown. He’d obviously like to change that this postseason, but beyond that, he’ll do whatever it takes to help his team win.

“It’s win or go home,” Andrews said. “There’s the preseason, the regular season and then the playoffs. The players are more bought in and ready to play. People are flying around. It’s all gasoline, all we have.”
