Marvel Rivals’ first Battle Pass accidentally leaked and has the best skin

After weeks of back-to-back revelations Marvel Rivals is just around the corner and we know practically everything that awaits us on our plate. What NetEase isn’t so open about, however, is the battle pass structure – aside from the fact that there will be a new pass with each season. No wonder anymore as the Marvel Rivals Battle Pass for Season 0 was accidentally shared during an official live stream.

As part of the Marvel Rivals Pro Roundup livestream ahead of the multiplayer game’s release, two content creators were invited to introduce two new Marvel Rivals characters. While Squirrel Girl and Iron Fist seem like fun heroes, by far the most exciting news from this event was a sneak peek at the Season 0 Battle Pass, officially titled “Chronovium.” About an hour into Necros’ stream, he accidentally brings up the Season tab in the main menu before abruptly continuing, still revealing the first of seven pages in the shorter debut battle pass.

Firstly, the incredible Imperial Protocol Black Panther skin (the one with the fur collar) has been confirmed to be included in the Battle Pass – on the front page, no less – and not reserved for the in-game store. On the first page you’ll also find a matching nameplate and sticker, a Punisher skin, and a wad of cash.

Perhaps more importantly, it’s clear that Marvel Rivals’ Battle Pass has taken its competitors’ notes and done something different. You don’t have to go through the pass in a linear fashion; Instead, you spend money to unlock only what you want using a playable account currency. Similar to Helldivers 2, this should reduce both the commotion and the clutter as you chase your chosen rewards. Interestingly, in-game events (like Galacta’s Quest from the playtests) work much more like traditional battle pass systems.

The layout of the Battle Pass menu also suggests that they are permanent in some form. As the countdown to the end of the season begins, the strangely barren panel on the left with the Season 0 symbol suggests that more passes may be held here, possibly so you can claim rewards from previously purchased passes. This is also reminiscent of Helldivers 2 and Halo Infinite, which are often praised for their approach to seasonal content. However, you may also find Marvel Rivals event pages here.

Luckily, there are only a few days left until the Marvel Rivals release date when we can put this system to the test. Keep in mind that Chronovium is much smaller than the real Marvel Rivals Season 1, which comes out about a month after the free PC game’s release.
