BALTIMORE – Expect these cool conditions to continue Saturday night into Sunday, with temperatures starting in the 20s early Sunday as a frontal system approaches. We will be slightly warmer on Sunday afternoon, but there is also a chance of moderate precipitation.

Rainy end to the weekend. Warm up during the week.

A winter storm watch and warning is in effect for Western Maryland from Sunday morning through Monday morning. Up to half a foot (6 inches) of snow is possible, along with some sleet and possible ice accumulation on roads. This precipitation encounters warmer air as it moves east, turning it into rain as it approaches the Baltimore metropolitan area.

Warmer weather early next week

Sunday will be the warmer of the two weekend days, with highs reaching up to 40°C, triggering a warming trend. Highs on Monday will warm into the lower 50s. We will see another system with isolated showers Monday evening into Tuesday morning. Highs on Tuesday will be much milder in the lower 60s. There is even a possibility of a partial evacuation on Tuesday afternoon. Stronger winds will develop on Tuesday – we expect sustained winds of 10-20 mph and stronger gusts.

Cooling down during the week

Temperatures will cool down again towards the middle and end of next week. Highs around 50 degrees are expected on Wednesday, and they will drop to 40 degrees on Thursday and Friday.

Rain and possible snowflakes late next week

Another storm system will bring additional rain chances mid to late week. There’s a chance we could see a few snowflakes at the end of the storm, but right now this doesn’t seem like a big snow machine for us.

We will continue to monitor the forecast and provide updates as conditions evolve.
