Massachusetts School Closings, Chances of Rain and Snow This Week – NBC Boston

Things will be hectic again this week, but no major storms are brewing. Instead, there are a number of small events, most of which take place at night. We had a Sunday evening that was nearly wiped out by a strong high pressure system (and large amounts of dry air). Remains of cloudy clouds will persist on Monday and temperatures will rise slightly.

An initial warning was issued for NECN from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday for light snow across western Massachusetts and Connecticut, causing slippery roads and light icing during the morning commute.

Tuesday is the warmest day of the week, probably until Christmas. Clouds will clear early and highs will climb well into the 50s. 60 degrees is within reach for some cities, but that would be the exception. We’ll fall back a bit on Wednesday before the next small system catches up with us on Wednesday evening.

Temperatures once seemed low for snow, but now it appears we are clearly in the rain for most areas, with a possible mix of wet snow over higher ground in central Mass. and southwestern New Hampshire. We could see some patchy coatings here IF temperatures stay cold enough.

We’ll take a break on Thursday, then see another system slide off the coast on Friday evening and Saturday, “forcing” a load of VERY cold air into New England before the holidays.

Have a great week!
