Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving passes up Anthony Edwards’ “special” inclusion

The Dallas Mavericks picked up a big win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night and will now turn their focus to an NBA Christmas game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.

Before that contest, Mavs guard Kyrie Irving presented his flowers to Anthony Edwards as he continues to develop into one of the Association’s brightest young stars.

About Joey Mistretta:

“Just like great artists or great athletes before him, he got a lot from other people’s games… That’s what makes you special, that’s what makes you great,” Irving said.

“You know, I was watching a movie yesterday and I saw him dealing with his boys. He just wants to win. If you have that mentality every day, it will eventually rub off on your teammates. They’re still building an identity with Julius Randle, but for Ant specifically, he’s been vocal in the media about his team and trying to get something going, and as a young player leading a franchise, that’s one of the hardest things to do “What you can do puts a strain on everything.”

The Mavericks star also explained how he can tell Ant is getting advice from other players across the league, especially after playing for Team USA at the Paris Olympics over the summer.

Edwards is having another solid season, averaging 25.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists. The Timberwolves have struggled since trading away Karl-Anthony Towns, but the hope is that they can eventually find their footing with Randle as Ant’s co-star. Minnesota owns a record of 14-14.

Kyrie and the Mavericks are in fourth place in the West with a record of 19-10 and just got Luka Doncic back from a heel injury. Hopefully Dallas can pull out a win on Christmas and slow down Edwards, who will be looking to wreak havoc under the bright lights.
