Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić was forced out of Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a calf injury.

Dončić was making a move at his elbow in the second quarter of the Christmas Day game at American Airlines Center when he suddenly pulled up and kicked the ball away. He then immediately started limping and seemed distraught when the play went the other way.

Dončić eventually left the field under his own power and entered the locker room, but he limped significantly.

The Mavericks ruled Dončić out at halftime with a calf injury. Further details are not yet known, although he has been struggling with a calf strain that he first suffered in pre-season. Dončić recovered from this injury in time and started the regular season.

Dončić finished the game with 14 points and five rebounds in 16 minutes. He shot 5 of 9 from the field and 3 of 5 from distance. The 25-year-old started this season with averages of almost 29 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game.

The Timberwolves jumped ahead in the second quarter and took a 17-point lead at the break. They also held Dallas to just 16 points in that period.

This post will be updated with more information shortly.
