McDonald’s is bringing the cult favorite back to the menu in 2025

An iconic menu item is returning to McDonald’s in the new year.

During an interview with Good Morning America on Thursday, McDonald’s USA President Joe Erlinger announced that snack packaging will make a comeback in 2025.

“The snack wrap will be available again in 2025,” said Erlinger. “It has cult status. I get so many emails about this product in my inbox. It will be available again in 2025.”

“It has a cult following,” he continued, though he didn’t reveal the exact date of his return.

The latest news comes after McDonald’s confirmed that the E. coli outbreak linked to the Quarter Pounder hamburger has ended.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention The Food and Drug Administration said the case was closed after no new illnesses emerged linked to consumers’ eating at the restaurant.

The process to this point felt lengthy, challenging and uncertain at times. However, it is vital that officials investigate every possible angle and we are deeply grateful that they acted quickly to identify and contain the issue in collaboration with McDonald’s. We would like to thank them again,” McDonald’s said in a statement.

The outbreak was first reported on Oct. 22 and at least 104 people in 14 states, including 34 hospitalized, reported being sick. One person in Colorado died and four people developed a potentially life-threatening complication of kidney disease.

An investigation linked the outbreak to yellow onions sold by California-based Taylor Farms and served raw on Quarter Pounders at McDonald’s restaurants in Colorado, Kansas, Wyoming and other states.
