Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey (concussion protocol) is out against OKC Thunder

Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey was downgraded to a loss for Sunday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The team announced on Sunday that Edey suffered a concussion. Brandon Clarke is also out with a right knee injury.

Edey was one of the NBA’s best rookies this season, averaging 11.3 points and eight rebounds in 19 games. This is the second injury he has dealt with in the regular season; He missed 13 games due to an ankle injury.

The loss of Edey shortens the Grizzlies’ frontcourt depth. They are already without striker Santi Aldama and Clarke’s absence eliminates the only other player who started in the middle.

Jay Huff and Jaren Jackson Jr. will play center most of the time. John Konchar and Jake LaRavia could factor into the small-ball power forward rotation.

The Grizzlies are also without Ja Morant (shoulder), Marcus Smart (right index finger), Vince Williams Jr. (ankle) and GG Jackson (foot).
