Metro Detroit Weather Forecast: Scattered showers for most of the day as temperatures continue to rise

Metro Detroit is in for a wet stretch as the calendar inches closer to 2025.

The high on Friday will be 45 degrees, with scattered showers for most of the day. There might be a bit of a lull in the early afternoon, but don’t expect much sunshine. Winds from the southeast at 10-15 mph will intensify the cold.

This is where things get strange: overnight temperatures rise to an unseasonable 50 degrees. Southerly winds will increase, blowing at speeds of 10 to 20 miles per hour, while rain continues to keep everything damp. This warmer air overnight sets the stage for a mild Saturday, but don’t put the umbrella away just yet.

Saturday will remain cloudy with occasional showers and a high around 56°. It is mild, but the moist air remains and creates a cozy indoor atmosphere. Winds from the south will remain consistent, helping to pump in the warmer air before the pattern changes again.

Sunday flips the script with a bang. Intermittent heavy rain will make outdoor plans difficult and temperatures will drop to around 48°C. Colder air will begin to move in Sunday night, signaling a cooler, more wintry feel heading into 2025.

Enjoy the milder air while it lasts – colder days are just around the corner. By January 2, 2025, we will quickly fall back into the 20s and 30s.
