Michael Mann’s crime classic will find a new streaming home in January

You could say that in the world of film Al Pacino And Robert De Niro go together like peanut butter and jelly, salt and pepper, or whatever else you want to combine perfectly. The duo’s on-screen relationship dates back five decades to 1974, when they appeared alongside each other (so to speak) for the first time in the second part of Francis Ford CoppolaGangster epic trilogy – The Godfather: Part II. While more than a handful of years would pass before the two reunited for another crime drama, their day in the sun would eventually come to an end Michael Mannfeature film from 1995, heat. On the other side of the coin, however Career criminal McCauley is focused on pulling off his last major heist before his planned retirement. There’s just one problem: he quickly loses control of his team. As they get caught up in the intense back and forth of their dangerous game of cat and mouse, both men find common ground even as one hunts the other.

The Real Story Behind “Heat”

As is the case with so many great movie storylines, heat based on a piece of reality; De Niro’s master thief Neil McCauley was a real person, while Pacino’s lieutenant Hanna is modeled on Detective Chuck Adamson, the real man behind the McCauley investigation. Together with its two main actors, the ensemble cast of heat is filled with a number of impressive names including Val Kilmer, Natalie Portman, Wes Study, Jon Voight, Ashley Judd, Tom Sizemore, Henry Rollins, Hank Azaria, Danny TrejoAnd Amy Brenneman.

Not only heat A A must for crime fans and those who love Pacino, De Niro and Mann, but now is the time to watch the cult film as a sequel is on the way.
