Mike Woodson won’t say why Oumar Ballo was there for IU’s win over Winthrop

BLOOMINGTON — IU basketball coach Mike Woodson declined to discuss the status of starting center Oumar Ballo following a 77-68 win over Winthrop on Sunday.

Ballo, who was listed as questionable on the team’s availability report, did not participate in warmups and missed a game for the first time since his first year at Gonzaga during the 2020-21 season. He previously appeared on IU’s availability report for the Dec. 9 game against Minnesota, but ended up playing.

“I’m not going to get into that,” Woodson said after the game. “But I didn’t have much lead time. But that doesn’t matter. You know, guys in uniform have to play, and he didn’t play tonight, and you know, we’ll sit down tomorrow and address his situation and get ready for Rutgers.
