Minnesota Vikings at Los Angeles Rams: First quarter review and second quarter discussion

We’re through the first quarter of this Wild Card playoff game and our Minnesota Vikings are trailing the Los Angeles Rams 10-0.

After the Vikings won the toss, the Rams got the football first and, as is common in such situations, pushed the ball into the second half. After a touchback, the Rams got off to a fast start when Matthew Stafford found Puka Nacua for a big lead in Minnesota territory on the first play from scrimmage. Two plays later, Stafford found Tyler Higbee for another big hit and the Rams were in the red zone. After a fourth down play with Jonathan Bullard offsides giving the Rams a first-and-goal, Stafford found Kyren Williams for a 5-yard touchdown to give the Rams a quick 7-0 lead.

The Vikings got the ball and, thanks largely to a 10-yard loss on a sack by Darnold, quickly went three-and-out and kicked the ball back to the Rams. The Los Angeles offense got going again until they were cited for unsportsmanlike conduct in a dead ball situation. They had to settle for a field goal when Joshua Karty scored from 34 yards out to extend the lead to 10-0.

As we approach the second quarter, the Vikings face a 3rd-and-10 from the Los Angeles 24-yard line.

Not a great start for the Vikings as they are down 10-0 to start but are on the verge of worsening the scoresheet. Come by and experience the second quarter of the game with us!
