Missouri Highway Patrol provides updates on current road conditions

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Traffic is slow Monday following snow and ice in the Ozarks this weekend.

As the snow leaves Missouri on Monday, crews will continue to battle the winter weather and its impacts. Wind gusts and blowing snow will continue to reduce visibility and push powder back onto the roadway. Due to bitterly cold temperatures and cloud cover on Monday, heavy snow and frozen precipitation on the roads will take longer to arrive.

“Motorists in areas experiencing snow and ice accumulation must not let their guard down once this precipitation passes,” said MoDOT Chief Safety and Operations Officer Becky Allmeroth. “It will take our teams most of Monday to bring the main routes in these affected areas back to good condition. So we need people to continue to avoid traveling.”

MoDOT has about 1,500 snow trucks deployed across the state, with crews working 12-hour shifts until the roads are largely clear after the snow has passed. Missouri road conditions are available 24/7 on the Traveler Information Map at www.modot.org on desktop and mobile devices. Motorists can also find out road conditions by following MoDOT on Facebook and X or by calling 888-ASK-MODOT (888-275-6636) to speak with a customer service representative. Motorists can dial Missouri State Highway Patrol emergency number *55 to reach the nearest troop headquarters.
