Model dies in suspected carbon monoxide leak

Actress and model Dayle Haddon has died and another person has been hospitalized due to a carbon monoxide leak at a Pennsylvania home, authorities said.

Haddon modeled for brands such as Estée Lauder and L’Oreal and appeared on the cover of magazines such as Sports Illustrated and Vogue Paris in the 1970s.

Police said they received a call at 6:31 a.m. local time (01:31 GMT) on Friday informing them that a 76-year-old man was unconscious on the first floor of a detached building at a home in Bucks County had become.

A 76-year-old woman, later identified as Haddon, was found dead in a second-floor bedroom.

The man, who police described as being in critical condition at a New Jersey hospital, was identified as Walter J. Blucas, whose son is married to Haddon’s daughter.

Records show the house belongs to Haddon’s daughter, former journalist Ryan Haddon, and her husband, actor Marc Blucas, according to the BBC’s US affiliate, CBS News.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a defective exhaust pipe from the building’s heating system caused the leak, police said.

They added that high levels of carbon monoxide on the property had impacted emergency responders. Two paramedics were taken to hospital for carbon monoxide exposure and a police officer was treated at the scene.

Dayle Haddon was born and raised in Quebec, Canada and began her career as a ballerina.

She moved to the United States to pursue a modeling career and later worked in movies, appearing in films such as 1973’s “The World’s Greatest Athlete” and 1979’s “North Dallas Forty.”

“She was a woman in her power, yet gentle and attentive to everyone. Deeply creative and curious, endowed with inner and outer beauty. Always kind and considerate,” she said.

“She was a generous spiritual being who valued the development of her soul, so I know her journey must be complete here in this dimension.”
