Molly Rawn defeats incumbent Lioneld Jordan in Fayetteville race

Molly Rawn was elected mayor of Fayetteville, the city’s first new mayor in 16 years. Follow this link for election results. Rawn defeated incumbent mayor Lioneld Jordan in a runoff. He was elected mayor for the first time in 2008. 5,411 voters cast their ballots for Rawn. 5,149 submitted their applications for Jordan. Rawn has lived in Fayetteville for 19 years. She is executive director of the city’s Advertising and Promotions Commission and CEO of Experience Fayetteville. Rawn emphasizes a housing-first strategy. She said Fayetteville has many ad hoc housing policies but lacks a master strategy. “It is unacceptable to me that we have so many people without homes in the city of Fayetteville,” Rawn said. Fayetteville is the largest city in northwest Arkansas and the second largest in the state after Little Rock.
