Moore-McNeil leads Hoosiers to win Maine

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana women’s basketball had its best shooting of the season with 22 points from the graduate guard Chloe Moore McNeil in a 78-53 win over Maine on Sunday.

KEY MOMENTS

  • Indiana (5-3) led from the start when Moore-McNeil’s consecutive throws forced the Black Bears into a timeout 50 seconds into the game. It would build a lead of up to 11 points as LaMendola scored off Garzon with 3:32 to play.
  • IU would go 9 for 13 from the floor in the first ten minutes and take a 24 for 17 lead after a minute. The offense stalled a bit for both teams in the second quarter, but Maine (3-5) took advantage and cut the lead to just two with 4:10 left. The lead grew back to six when Moore-McNeil went downhill and Garzon followed up with one of her three 3-pointers on the afternoon.
  • The game would open up for the Hoosiers in the third as they limited Maine to just 38.5 percent from the floor while shooting 72.7 percent from the field alone. The junior striker’s inside game Lilly Master gave IU a boost as they scored 14 points in the quarter alone. It was part of a glowing 72.7-inch clip from the ground.
  • All available players saw the field in the matchup, which ended the day shooting a season-high 52.8 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three.

Remarkable

  • Moore-McNeil set a career high with 22 points on Sunday, including 4-for-5 shooting from behind the arc. She shot 8 of 10 from the floor while dishing out four assists, four rebounds and two assists.
  • Meister added 18 points and finished the game with nine boards while recording a career-high three blocks.
  • The Hoosiers scored nine shots in the win, led by Meister and two each from junior guard Yarden Garzon and sophomore guard Julianna LaMendola.
  • Garzon and junior guard Shay Ciezki each handed out seven assists each, while Indiana collected 25 assists on 30 made field goals.
  • Junior guard Henna Sandvik came off the bench and scored four points and contributed four assists.
  • IU improves to 4-0 all-time series with Maine Black Bears.
