Morgan Wallen pleads guilty to throwing a chair from a rooftop bar in Nashville

Country star Morgan Wallen was in court Thursday as he pleaded guilty to throwing a chair from a six-story rooftop bar in Nashville earlier this year.

The 31-year-old entertainer pleaded guilty to two counts Misdemeanor Charge of reckless endangerment.

Wallen was sentenced to seven days in a DUI training center and two years of probation.

He was arrested in April after the incident at country singer Eric Church’s bar Chief’s in Nashville’s popular Broadway neighborhood.

An affidavit said the chair Wallen threw landed about three feet away from officers, who were speaking to witnesses and reviewing security footage. Witnesses told officers they saw Wallen pick up a chair, throw it over the roof and laugh about it.

Wallen was booked into jail on April 8 and released.

The “One Thing at a Time” singer apologized on social media platform X following the incident.

“I didn’t feel comfortable coming out publicly until I made amends with a few people. I have contacted Nashville law enforcement, my family and the good people at Chief’s. I am not proud of my behavior and take responsibility,” he wrote.

Last month, the country singer was named Entertainer of the Year at the annual CMA Awards.

The bar incident isn’t the first time Wallen has made headlines for his behavior. In 2021, he was caught on video shouting a racial slur outside his home in Tennessee after a night of partying in Nashville.

“There is no excuse. I never made an excuse. “I will never apologize,” Wallen said in an interview with Billboard two years after the controversy that nearly derailed his career.
