According to court records, Morgan Wallen pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of reckless endangerment stemming from his April arrest for throwing a chair from a rooftop bar in Nashville.

According to documents obtained by CNN, Wallen pleaded guilty under a deferred order so that the charges could be dropped after he served his sentence and was on probation.

Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, IV, told CNN in a statement Thursday that the country singer appeared at a Davidson County courthouse and “entered a conditional plea under Tennessee’s Diversion Statute, which will not result in a conviction.”

“The plea agreement with prosecutors requires Mr. Wallen to spend seven days in a DUI training center, be on probation for two years – one year for each of the misdemeanor reckless endangerment charges – pay a $350 fine and go to court stands fees. Upon successful completion of his probation, the charges may be dismissed and expunged,” the statement said.

Robinson’s statement continued: “Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities over the past eight months, communicating directly with and apologizing to all those involved. Mr. Wallen remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation.”

Online records show a third count of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct were dismissed Thursday.

Wallen was arrested in April on three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of misdemeanor “for throwing a chair from the roof of the Chief’s Bar,” the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said in a statement on X at the time.

According to an affidavit obtained by CNN affiliate WTVF, several Metro Nashville police officers were standing outside the bar when a chair fell from above and landed near where they were staying.

Bar employees told police that Wallen threw the chair from the top floor of the six-story restaurant and bar.

Security camera footage from the bar’s roof showed Wallen “lunging” and “throwing an object over the roof,” according to the report, which also noted that witnesses who witnessed the incident told police said they saw Wallen laughing after he grabbed the chair and threw it.

His bail was set at $15,250 and Robinson said in a statement at the time that he was “cooperating fully with authorities.”

Wallen is a Grammy-nominated country singer who caused controversy in 2021 after he was seen using a racial slur on camera. His contract was suspended by his record label and several radio stations temporarily stopped playing his music. He later apologized.

He has had three No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and was recently named 2024 Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards.
