Moses Moody is out, Andrew Wiggins is questionable for Warriors vs. Rockets

The Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets meet in the quarterfinals of the Emirates NBA Cup tonight at 6:30 p.m. PT on TNT. With a win, the Warriors will travel to Las Vegas to play the Oklahoma City Thunder, who secured their spot in the semifinals last night. If they lose, the Dubs will schedule a game against the Dallas Mavericks to ensure they have 82 games under their belt this year.

Golden State has beaten Houston twice this year, including last week when they won despite having neither Steph Curry nor Draymond Green available. And they won’t have quite a full squad tonight either.

Here is the full injury report:

warrior

Out of — Moses Moody (left knee patellar tendon disorder)

Moody had to leave the last two games in the first half due to a minor knee injury. That’s why the Dubs just won’t let him lie on the floor today and hope that he gets completely healthy.

Out of — De’Anthony Melton (left cruciate ligament surgery)

There is no new news on Melton being out this year. His contract can be traded starting Sunday.

Questionable — Andrew Wiggins (right ankle impingement)

Wiggins was dominant in the team’s short-handed win over Houston last week despite being hampered by an ankle injury. We’ll see if he’s suitable for this game.

Rockets

Questionable — Alperen Şengün (left knee pain)

Şengün seems destined for the first of many All-Star selections. The 22-year-old Turkish center, who was selected two picks after Moody in the 2021 draft, averages 18.5 points, 10.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game and is clearly the best player on a very good Rockets team. His availability in this game is huge.

Questionable — Steven Adams (recovering from right knee injury)

Speaking of massive…Steven Adams! He’s huge! He’s only played 13 games this year after missing the entire 2023-24 season with a knee injury, but he offers a really big, strong, physical presence.

Questionable — Jae’Sean Tate (lower back pain)

Tate hasn’t been able to match the production he had in his first two NBA seasons after being an undrafted player, although part of that is due to Houston simply having a better team now and fewer minutes are to be awarded. He hasn’t played a big role this year.

Questionable — Cam Whitmore (left wrist contusion)

So far, Whitmore has looked less like the player who was once projected to be a top-five pick in 2023 and more like the player who fell to No. 20, one spot after selecting Brandin Podziemski. He only appeared in eight NBA games this year, averaging just 9.9 minutes per game, while the Rockets were able to test him a bit in the G League.

Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
