Moses Moody is out, Ja Morant is questionable for Warriors vs. Grizzlies

The Golden State Warriors are back in action tonight after a short break as they host the Memphis Grizzlies at 5:00 PM PT. It’s the beginning of a new era for the Dubs, who will welcome point guard Dennis Schröder to the team after a trade over the weekend. Schröder is expected to be in the starting lineup and it will be exciting to see what the lineups look like with him.

Here is the full injury report.

Out of — Moses Moody (left knee patellar tendon disorder)

Moody’s knee injury has certainly lasted longer than Golden State expected. This is his third consecutive absence, after two games in which he left the game before halftime. Combined with the tournament break during the season, that means Moody hasn’t played a full game since December 5th. Hopefully he’ll be back to full strength soon.

Grizzlies

Out of — Jay Huff (left ankle sprain)

Huff is in his fourth NBA season and on his fourth team. But the fourth time is the charm, as he is having by far his best season and looks like a clear NBA rotation player. He shouldn’t be out for too long with his ankle injury.

Out of — GG Jackson II (right fifth metatarsal repair)

Jackson had an outstanding rookie season last year, averaging 14.6 points per game despite being a second-round pick. He really capitalized on all the injuries Memphis had. Unfortunately, he suffered one of those injuries this year as he underwent offseason surgery and has yet to make his season debut.

Out of — Vince Williams Jr. (right ankle sprain)

Williams has really struggled with injuries this year, only playing in three games in his third season. Hopefully he can return to the pitch soon.

Doubtful — Marcus Smart (left shoulder pain)

Smart guard Steph Curry is always fun to watch, although I suspect Curry will be pretty happy not having to face one of the best perimeter defenders in the league on every possession.

Questionable — Ja Morant (lower back pain)

The Grizzlies’ difficult 2023-2024 season finally disproved the silly notion that they were somehow better when their All-Star point guard couldn’t play. A healthy Morant is vital to Memphis’ chances of success, and the Warriors won’t shed any tears if he can’t play.
