Music star Shaboozey becomes famous overnight after NFL halftime show: “What can’t God do?”

Last Thanksgiving, you probably would have done a double-take at the table with your family if someone asked you if you had ever heard of Shaboozey. However, he is a household name this holiday season.

Shaboozey made his big breakthrough this year with his hit record “A Bar Song,” which has been played in almost every bar, wedding and other party in recent months.

Long after the song’s rousing success, the 29-year-old received a commitment to perform during halftime of the Chicago Bears-Detroit Lions game on Thursday.

Shaboozey released his first single in 2014, but his first two albums never charted.

However, “A Bar Song” spent 19 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it tied with Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” as the longest-running No. 1 song of all time.

Shaboozey, whose life has certainly changed 180 degrees in 2024, reflected on his journey after his performance.

“Going from a 250-seat venue to an NFL halftime show in a year is crazy. What can’t God do?” he posted on X.

According to Concert Archives, Shaboozey performed at the 210-person Resident in Los Angeles in 2018. Earlier this year, he performed at the Clyde Theater in Fort Wayne, Indiana, which has a capacity of 2,000.

“A Bar Song” was nominated for three Grammys, while Shaboozey himself is nominated for best new artist.

Following Shaboozey’s performance, Lions fans were greeted with even more confidence as the home team earned a 23-20 victory over their NFC North rivals.
