My Chemical Romance fool was 44

Bob Bryar, a former drummer for My Chemical Romance, has died. He was 44.

According to TMZ, which first reported the news, Bryar was found dead in his Tennessee home on Tuesday, November 26th. Law enforcement sources told the station that the musician was last seen alive on November 4th.

A medical examiner is investigating the cause and manner of Bryar’s death, TMZ reported.

In a statement about this billboardA representative for My Chemical Romance said: “The band asks for patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob’s death.”

A representative for My Chemical Romance did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Bryar was born in Chicago in 1979 and performed with My Chemical Romance from 2004 until his departure in 2010.

He joined the New Jersey group shortly after the release of their 2004 album Cheers to Sweet Revengeand replaces, according to NME and Kerrang! original drummer Matt Pelissier.

Bryar joined the rock band after studying audio engineering at the University of Florida and began working as a sound engineer for Thrice and The Used, eventually becoming friends with MCR during their tour with MCR in 2004, according to NME.

He then played on the group’s 2006 album The Black Parade and are working on material for the 2010s Danger days before his departure, according to Kerrang!.

After Bryar’s departure, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero wrote on the band’s blog at the time, according to NME: “Four weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar split up. This was a painful decision for all of us and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect all of you to do the same.”

MCR was founded in 2001 and was behind hits like “Helena” and the multi-platinum “Welcome to the Black Parade.”

In addition to Iero, MCR, whose frontman is Gerard Way, also consists of Ray Toro and Mikey Way.

The band will perform a 10-city tour next year, starting July 11 in Seattle.
