Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner Green Lantern in Superman Explained

Guy Gardner is one of the staunch members of the Green Lantern Corps. In the trailer, he is shown standing next to Hawkgirl with his signature bowl haircut and green emerald ring. The duo visits Stagg Enterprises and prepares to face Superman, with Guy firing his emerald energy at him.

Speaking about his character, actor Nathan Fillion, who for his roles in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Suicide Squad, said: “Guy Gardner is 90% flawed and he doesn’t care. For those unaware, Guy Gardner made his debut in 1968’s DC Comics Green Lantern #59. A native of Baltimore, Guy grew up in an abusive household that turned him into a stoic and aggressive person. He worked as a teacher and social worker and had strong ideals. But his life took an interesting turn when he was approached by the Green Lantern law enforcement agency. They chose him to replace Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern Ring because of his strong willpower. However, his journey was not easy as he fell into a coma after a serious accident.

After his recovery, Guy became one of the most powerful Green Lanterns. His powers include his rugged exterior and the ability to create designs such as cannons, gloves, and shields. In addition, the ring helps him, among other things, fly and generate energy blasts.

Despite his tough exterior, Guy has a superhero’s desire to protect the universe. So it will be interesting to see how James Gunn’s Superman explores this flawed but lovable character.
