NBA Christmas 2024: Reaves winner prevails over Warriors in holiday classic against Lakers | N.B.A

Austin Reaves scored the winning goal with one second left after Stephen Curry tied it with a 31-foot three with seven seconds left, LeBron James had 31 points and 10 assists in his NBA-record game on Christmas Day and the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors 115:113 on Wednesday evening.

Curry scored 38 points with eight three-pointers, one he hit with 12 seconds left under pressure from the baseline and another with 2:49 left, only for James to answer from distance on the other end.

Reaves posted a triple-double with 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the Lakers, who lost big man Anthony Davis to a sprained left ankle late in the first quarter.

San Antonio Spurs 114-117 New York Knicks

Mikal Bridges scored a season-high 41 points and the New York Knicks defeated Victor Wembanyama’s 42 to beat the San Antonio Spurs 117-114 on Wednesday in a great Christmas debut.

Wembanyama set a Spurs scoring record on the holiday, adding 18 rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots. The reigning Western Conference Player of the Week made six three-pointers.

But Bridges shot 17-for-25 from the field and 6-for-9 from behind the arc to ensure the Knicks had just enough offense to earn their fifth straight win and improve to 20-10.

Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 points and nine rebounds and Jalen Brunson scored 20 points. Josh Hart finished with 12 points, 12 boards and six assists.

Jeremy Sochan scored 21 points and nine rebounds for the Spurs.

Minnesota Timberwolves 105-99 Dallas Mavericks

Anthony Edwards scored 26 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves held on for a 105-99 win over Dallas on Christmas Day after Mavericks superstar Luka Dončić left the game with a left calf strain.

A rematch of last year’s Western Conference Finals, won by Dallas, was derailed when Dončić blocked a play late in the second quarter on Wednesday. Then things got wild as the Mavs almost completely erased their 28-point deficit in the second half.

The five-time All-Star never made it back to the defensive end and limped off the court after Dallas called a timeout. It was Dončić’s second game back, having missed twice due to a bruised left heel.

Kyrie Irving scored 39 points but missed a three-pointer that would have put the Mavs ahead in the final minute after they trailed by 28 late in the third quarter. Dončić scored 14 points.

Rudy Gobert had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Philadelphia 76ers 118-114 Boston Celtics

Joel Embiid recovered from a pregame fall to score 27 points with nine rebounds, made 4 of 5 from three-point range and sank two free throws with three seconds left to stymie Boston’s final rally and draw the Philadelphia 76ers to one 118 to lead -114 win on Wednesday.

Tyrese Maxey had 33 points and 12 assists. He scored 13 points in the fourth quarter, including a quick layup to open a seven-point lead with about a minute left after the Sixers threw the ball in with 1.1 seconds on the shot clock. Caleb Martin scored 23 points and hit 7 of 9 from three-point range.

Jayson Tatum scored 32 points with 15 rebounds for Boston, Jaylen Brown scored 23 and Derrick White had 21. Boston wore red socks and leggings with their green jerseys for an extra dose of Christmas cheer.

Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis, who has missed all but nine games this season due to injury, did not return in the second half. The team said he has an ankle injury.

Denver Nuggets 100-110 Phoenix Suns

Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal each scored 27 points and the Phoenix Suns defeated the Denver Nuggets 110-100 in the nightcap of the NBA’s Christmas games on Wednesday night.

The Nuggets beat Phoenix 117-90 on Monday night in Denver, but the Suns put up much more fight despite playing without Devin Booker (groin) and Grayson Allen (concussion protocol).

Phoenix led by seven points after three quarters and extended its lead to 99-81 by midway through the fourth quarter. The Suns extended the lead to 15 and held off the Nuggets down the stretch to end a three-game losing streak.

Nikola Jokić had 25 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Nuggets. Michael Porter Jr. added 22 and Russell Westbrook had 17.

Jamal Murray had 13 points, six rebounds and six assists after missing Monday’s game with a sprained ankle.
