NBA recap: Trae Young’s trey in OT catapults the Hawks past the Lakers

Trae Young hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 7.4 seconds left in overtime to help the Atlanta Hawks to a 134-132 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.

Young had 31 points and 20 assists while De’Andre Hunter scored 26 off the bench, giving Atlanta its sixth straight win. Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 20 points, Onyeka Okongwu 15 and Jalen Johnson contributed 12 points and 10 rebounds. Zacharie Risacher and Dyson Daniels added 11 points each.

LeBron James led Los Angeles with 39 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds, while Anthony Davis had 38 points, 10 assists and eight assists. Dalton Knecht had 14 points, followed by Rui Hachimura and Gabe Vincent, who each had 12. The Lakers lost for the third time in a row.

With 1:44 left in overtime, Vincent’s 3-pointer gave Los Angeles a 130-127 lead. Daniels and Davis then traded baskets before Johnson hit two free throws to bring Atlanta within one point with 36.9 seconds left. After Young’s game-winning triple, James’ 3-pointer failed as time expired.

76ers 102, Magic 94

Paul George scored 21 points and dished out nine assists as the 76ers defeated Orlando to secure a split of both teams’ two-game home series in Philadelphia.

The Sixers dropped a 106-102 decision to the Magic on Wednesday in the absence of George (knee), but they had a crisper effort in that game despite playing again without Joel Embiid (knee). KJ Martin turned heads with a season-high 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the Philadelphia bench, while Tyrese Maxey and Guerschon Yabusele each scored 16 points.

Franz Wagner led Orlando with 30 points, while Jalen Suggs scored 22 points. Moritz Wagner contributed 12 points and nine rebounds for the Magic, who shot just 13 of 46 (28.3 percent) from 3-point range and had 21 turnovers.

Celtics 111, Bucks 105

Jayson Tatum scored a game-high 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Boston extended its home winning streak to seven games with a win over Milwaukee.

Boston used a 10-2 run to take a 105-101 lead with 1:29 left, and Jrue Holiday scored one

Jump shot that gave the Celtics a 107-102 lead with 25.6 seconds left in the game. Jaylen Brown added 25 points for Boston, which outrebounded 51-41 and shot 32.1 percent from 3-point range (17 of 53).

Damian Lillard poured in a team-high 31 points for Milwaukee, which got 30 points and 11 rebounds from Giannis Antetokounmpo. Bobby Portis finished the game with nine points and 18 rebounds. Khris Middleton came off the bench to make his season debut for the Bucks, collecting 11 points, five assists and two steals in 23 minutes.

Timberwolves 107, Warriors 90

Anthony Edwards scored a game-high 30 points, Rudy Gobert and Naz Reid provided poor defense, and Minnesota ran away from Golden State to win in San Francisco.

The clubs meet on Sunday in a rematch also hosted by Golden State. Edwards recorded his sixth game of the season with more than 30 points. He made 11 of his 18 shots, including four of 10 3-point attempts, while also finding time for a game-high nine assists. Gobert grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and added 17 points. Reid blocked two shots while contributing nine points, 10 rebounds and three steals, helping the Timberwolves to their fifth straight win over the Warriors.

Julius Randle added 16 points and nine rebounds, Mike Conley had 13 points and Jaden McDaniels scored 10 points for Minnesota, which outscored the hosts 45.5 percent to 39 percent overall and 33.3 percent to 28 on 3-point attempts .2 percent exceeded.

Jazz 141, Trail Blazers 99

Johnny Juzang had a season-high 22 points and six 3-pointers and John Collins added 20 points as Utah steamrolled host Portland.

Walter Kessler collected 17 rebounds and five blocked shots for 13 points as the Jazz broke a five-game losing streak. The win was just the second in 11 games for Utah and just the fifth in 22 games this season. Keyonte George had 17 points, Collin Sexton recorded 16 points and seven assists and Svi Mykhailiuk had 13 points and eight boards for the Jazz.

Jerami Grant and Dalano Banton each scored 19 points for Portland, which lost for the seventh time in nine games. Anfernee Simons and Kris Murray added 14 each for the Trail Blazers.

Kings 140, Spurs 113

DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points and Domantas Sabonis added 22 points and 16 rebounds as he visited Sacramento against San Antonio.

Malik Monk and De’Aaron Fox also scored 22 points each for the Kings, while Keegan Murray scored 17 and Kevin Huerter added 16 points off the bench.

Julian Champagnie scored a career-high 30 points to lead the Spurs, who lost their worst third straight game of the season. Stephon Castle had 15 points, Keldon Johnson and Jeremy Sochan each had 14 and Chris Paul had 11 points and 13 assists in the loss.

Pacers 132, Bulls 123

Tyrese Haliburton scored 23 points and Pascal Siakam added 21 as Indiana ended a four-game losing streak with a win at Chicago.

Haliburton made 5 of 9 3-point attempts and finished the game with eight assists. Siakam hit 3 of 5 from long range for the Pacers, who had lost eight straight on the road.

Zach LaVine scored 32 points and hit 5 of 9 from 3-point range, and Coby White added 19 points and nine assists for the Bulls, whose two-game winning streak ended.
