NBA Trade Ratings – Breaking Down the Most Impactful Deals

The NBA trade deadline doesn’t end until February 6th and we’re starting to see activity as teams look to improve their postseason chances.

On Friday, the Indiana Pacers agreed to acquire center Thomas Bryant from the Miami Heat. And on Saturday, the Brooklyn Nets agreed to send guard Dennis Schroder to the Golden State Warriors in hopes of bolstering their guard depth behind Stephen Curry. Both deals were completed on Sunday.

What other players and picks will be on the move between now and the trade deadline? We’ll evaluate all of the league’s major deals and break down the implications for each team and player involved.

The Warriors are helping at guard, acquiring Schroder from the Nets

Golden State Warriors receive:
G Dennis Schröder
2025 second-round pick (via Miami)

Brooklyn Nets get:
G De’Anthony Melton
G Reece Beekman
Three second-round picks (2026 and 2028 via Atlanta, 2029 via Golden State)

Golden State Warriors grade: A-

For all the credit deserved for the Warriors’ strength, it did more to give Steve Kerr a chance to get around Stephen Curry than to succeed without him. According to NBA Advanced Stats, Golden State was outscored by 1.9 points per 100 possessions with Curry on the bench, despite playing elite defense in those situations.

Without Curry, the Warriors simply can’t score. According to Cleaning the Glass, when Curry rests, their offensive rating is in the 4th percentile league-wide, a big difference from last season when Golden State had future Hall of Famer Chris Paul as their backup. Last season, the Warriors scored at a league average pace without Curry and outscored opponents with him on the bench.
