NBC5 First Warning Weather

NBC5 First Warning Weather

Howling winds, bitter cold and snow will continue into Thursday evening. Wind chill will mostly be below zero. Gusty northwesterly winds are causing blowing and drifting snow, reducing visibility and making travel dangerous. The snow on the slopes will primarily affect the mountains, but could also reach lower elevations such as the Champlain Valley. Drivers should be prepared for changing road conditions at all times. There could be another 30 centimeters of snow in the northern mountains by Thursday evening, and a few centimeters of snow at lower altitudes. Snow totals can vary depending on terrain differences even within the same city. At times the northwest flow can “block” and push snow into the Champlain Valley. Places like St. Albans could see up to 5 inches. Friday will be drier, with some sun, less wind and highs in the mid 20s. This weekend, a storm system moving well south will bring snow showers and light accumulations with temperatures near seasonal averages. Stay informed about the weather.
