THIS IS THE LAST WEEKEND FOR THIS IMPORTANT LIST OF PARADES IN VANCE AND THOMASVILLE. ON SATURDAY MORNING THE MADISON MAYODAN PARADE, ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON, ALONG WITH THE 2:00 PM PARADES AND GIBSONVILLE, WALNUT COVE, BOONE AND STOKESDALE. THE EARLY PARADES. IT WILL BE COLD. One of the reasons they, along with some of the surrounding counties, WILKES, ALLEGHANY PATRICK and CARROLL COUNTY, are under a flood warning. UNDER THIS FLOOD ADVISORY, mild air will continue to flow in until midday. We are close to our daily high. We’re switching things around a bit because once the cold front passes, temperatures will start to drop and today’s low won’t be reached in the morning. IT WILL BE CLOSE TO MIDNIGHT TONIGHT AS TEMPERATURES ARE STARTING TO RETURN AND WE ARE COOLING THINGS DOWN. Severe thunderstorms could occur over the eastern portion of the state, particularly east of I-95. There may be a few rumbles of thunder here locally, but for the most part it’s just the rain easing from our western counties. At the latest in the late phase of the Triad it will subside this afternoon and temperatures will begin to drop again very quickly. Watauga County schools will close early today (Wednesday) due to wet roads, predicted snowfall, rapidly falling temperatures, and to ensure buses return to schools safely. K-8 schools close at 11:30 a.m. and Wataugha High School closes at 12:30 p.m. Buses will run on their current regular routes with exceptions.
