Nebraska volleyball prepares to face Wisconsin in the NCAA regional finals

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The third-ranked Nebraska volleyball team will face No. 7 Wisconsin in an NCAA regional final on Sunday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on ABC. Courtney Lyle, Holly McPeak, Katie George and Madison Fitzpatrick will be on the phone. The game can also be streamed on WatchESPN.

Huskers Radio Network with John Baylor and Lauren (Cook) West will broadcast the Nebraska games on their volleyball affiliate stations, Huskers.com and the Huskers app.

Nebraska (32-2) advanced to the regional final after a 3-1 win over No. 23 Dayton on Friday night at the Devaney Center. The Huskers got a career-high 22 kills from sophomore Harper Murray, who also set season highs in digs (16), blocks (4) and aces (4).

Nebraska won its 36th all-time conference title and fifth Big Ten title with a 19-1 record in Big Ten play this season. The Huskers became Big Ten champions for the second straight year and also accomplished the feat in 2016 and 2017.

The Huskers advanced to the NCAA Regional for the 13th straight season after defeating Florida A&M and Miami last weekend. The Huskers hit a combined .341 last weekend and held both their opponents to .010.

The Huskers’ 29 regular-season wins tied the 1983 school record for most wins in a regular season in the NCAA era.

With Friday’s win, Nebraska reached an NCAA regional final for the 33rd time in program history and the 12th time in the last 13 seasons. The Huskers’ 33 regional final appearances are the most in NCAA history.

Nebraska improved to 33-7 all-time in regional semifinal games, including a 16-1 record in games in Lincoln.

Nebraska is 133-37 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. The Huskers rank second in NCAA history in postseason wins and winning percentage (.782).

Nebraska has won 25 consecutive home games in the NCAA Tournament since 2013, a school record. The Huskers are 31-2 in NCAA Tournament games at the Devaney Center.

Overall, Nebraska has won 44 straight home games since December 1, 2022. The Huskers have the longest home winning streak in the country and the longest since Nebraska moved into the Devaney Center in 2013.

John Cook improved to 100-25 in his NCAA Tournament career. Cook joined retired Penn State coach Russ Rose to become the only coaches in NCAA history with 100 NCAA Tournament wins.
