Nelly Korda trolls father; I’m looking forward to playing with the former Masters winner

Nelly Korda and her father Petr are competing at the PNC Championship in Orlando for the fourth time this week, so they know what to expect from each other.

But something the Kordas have never done before is play with Fred Couples, the 1992 Masters champion. Couples plays with his stepson Hunter Hanneman for the first time this week.

The tournament management then decided to put together Team Korda and Team Couples for the first round on Saturday.

“Personally I’m really excited to play with Fred Couples, I’m sorry Dad,” Nelly said.

“This is the highlight of my week at the moment.”

Korda had never met Couples before Friday’s Pro-Am.

“I saw his swing,” Korda added.

“I met him in person for the first time at the range this morning and it will be really nice to see this pace throughout the day.”

Couples have long had the smoothest swing in all of golf. Fans, fellow players and the media have raved about it for decades, often saying that every golfer should try to emulate his swing. However, past issues have plagued him in recent years, which explains why he has six blades in his bag this week. Despite this, Couples has never lost his comfortable, easy pace and is looking forward to playing competitively again this week.

He is also looking forward to playing with the Kordas.

“We’re really excited to play with the Kordas because Hunter and I will be on the same tees as Nelly,” Couples said.

“We’re going to calm down a little and have a good time.”
