Netflix releases trailers for documentaries “Dallas Cowboys” and “Jerry Jones.”

Netflix has released the first trailer for the new Jerry Jones Dallas Cowboys docuseries America’s Team: The Player and His Cowboys. The streaming service will release the new series next year.

America’s Team: The Player and His Cowboys will take a look at the influence of the Cowboys and Jerry Jones on the NFL. The documentary explores a “decade-long journey led by Jones’ intrepid business moves that revolutionized global sports and resulted in three NFL titles.”

Jerry Jones was interviewed along with for the documentaries Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Jimmy Johnson, Barry Switzer And Deion Sanders. Other notable figures in the 10-part series include former President George W. Bush and Nike co-founder Phil Knight.

In 2023, Puck.news reported that Netflix planned to pay $50 million for the rights to broadcast the Jerry Jones-related documentaries. At the time, Netflix was bidding against Amazon and ESPN.

Despite the problems the Cowboys had that year, they became a successful franchise when Jones purchased the team in 1989. The Cowboys won the Super Bowl in the 1992, 1993 and 1995 seasons, and Jones was named NFL Executive of the Year in 2014. Because of his success as an owner, Jones was inducted into the Pro Bowl Football Hall of Fame in 2017.

“It’s the inclusion factor of being part of such a limited group,” Jones said in a 2017 interview about being inducted into the Hall of Fame. “This NFL covers so many generations and so many years. It’s just now being inducted into the Hall of Fame. The best thing I did so far was go to that Ray Nitschke luncheon (today) with all the returning Hall of Famers. Listening to the players I introduced talk about me was really an emotional thing. It just reminded me of what’s happening with this game. You connect to your relationships more than any other discipline I’ve ever been in, business or anything. For me it’s religion.”
