Netflix secures US broadcast rights to Women’s World Cup in ‘landmark deal’ | Women’s World Cup

Netflix has secured its first major deal in the soccer market after signing an exclusive broadcast rights agreement to broadcast the 2027 and 2031 editions of the Women’s World Cup live to viewers in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The deal, which Fifa is calling a “groundbreaking media rights deal in women’s football”, means that for the first time the streaming platform will acquire the rights to full coverage of a football competition, in multiple languages. The 2027 tournament will take place in Brazil from June 24 to July 25, 2027 and will feature 32 teams. The organizer of the 2031 competition has not yet been determined.

“This is a milestone for sports media rights,” said Fifa President Gianni Infantino. “As a top brand and new long-term partner of Fifa, Netflix has shown a very strong commitment to the growth of women’s football. This agreement sends a strong message about the true value of the FIFA Women’s World Cup and global women’s football.”
