New Jersey Weather: Light snow, ice, could disrupt morning commute in parts of the state

According to the National Weather Service, northern parts of New Jersey will experience snowfall and freezing rain Sunday night through Monday morning, creating a difficult commute for drivers.

“Plan for slippery road conditions. “The dangerous conditions could impact Monday morning commutes,” the weather service warned.

A winter weather advisory was issued for Warren, Sussex, Morris and part of Hunterdon counties early Sunday morning. The weather warning begins at 10pm on Sunday and lasts until 9am on Monday in Sussex.

The forecast calls for up to an inch of snow and a tenth to a quarter of an inch of ice.

According to the weather service, precipitation will begin Sunday evening as snow, possibly mixed with sleet and freezing rain, before changing to rain Monday morning.

So plan some time and drive carefully when you go to work on Monday. The weather service recommends checking 511NJ.org for road conditions in your area.

Rain is forecast for southern New Jersey on Monday, according to AccuWeather.

Temperatures in New Jersey are expected to climb into the low 40s on Sunday and then drop to freezing overnight. Look for a rainy Monday with highs in the high 40s to low 50s.
