New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers breaks the previous record in Week 17 after becoming the most sacked QB in NFL history with 566 career sacks, breaking Hall of Famer Tom Brady’s previous record. Rodgers broke Brady’s record of 565 sacks in the third quarter of the game, and there is a high probability that he will break his record again in the next game and set a new, higher record against the Miami Dolphins.

Aaron Rodgers broke Tom Brady’s previous record of 565 sacks in his 23-year career when he became the NFL’s most sacked quarterback in the third quarter of the New York Jets’ 40-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills. “I’ve got Tom in there,” Rodgers said, laughing.

Bills defensive end Gregory Rousseau sacked Rodgers on this historic occasion in his career, passing Brady for the most sacks allowed by a quarterback in official NFL records. Of course, Brady set his sacks record over his 23-year career, while Rodgers beat him in 18 years.
Brady and Rodgers have had numerous comparisons throughout their careers, with the latter receiving four MVP awards and seven Super Bowl titles and Brady setting several NFL records, including multiple MVP awards and a single Super Bowl title. There has hardly been a goal scored for Rodgers or the Jets this season. 4-12, after losing Sunday and long out of the playoffs, they fired coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas and traded for Davante Adams, hoping for a fun deal. But the Jets did little.
When asked about his future with the Jets, specifically whether Johnson wanted him back in 2025, Rodgers responded by joking, “You should ask Woody,” followed by an awkward silence in the room. Rodgers is less certain about his final year in the NFL. After the season he stated that he would decide how long he would stay with the team.

Former Jets coach Eric Mangini claimed that Rodgers was actively trying to get cut by team owner Woody Johnson during a recent exhibition appearance. Further rumors arose from Rodgers’ comments during a press conference on December 24th when he discussed his injuries and the future of his remaining season.
Johnson’s comment about Rodgers’ performance was significant because there were rumors that he might consider benching him following the Jets’ Week 4 loss to the Broncos. Regardless of Rogers’ whereabouts in 2025, he set an embarrassing record with the team.
