New York Jets vs. Seattle Seahawks Second Half Thread

The first half of the New York Jets’ Week 13 game against the Seattle Seahawks is set and the Jets lead the Seahawks by five points at 21-16.

The Jets opened the game on defense and, after allowing a first down, forced a Seahawks punt. The two teams then engaged in several unsuccessful attacks to perfect the grunt-and-punt offense.

Late in the first quarter, the Jets put together a drive highlighted by a 24-yard completion to Davante Adams and a crucial 15-yard facemask penalty to old friend Leonard Williams on third-and-long. The Jets ended the drive with a fade to Adams for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was blocked, giving the Jets an early 6-0 lead.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Seahawks fumbled and the Jets recovered at the Seahawks’ 27-yard line. A few plays later, Isaiah Davis caught a shovel pass and ran it for a touchdown. The Jets managed a two-point conversion and the Jets had a 14-0 lead late in the first quarter.

The second quarter began with the Jets leading 14-0 and the Seahawks moving around midfield. The Seahawks’ drive was highlighted by a big 25-yard completion to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. A few plays later, Geno Smith hit AJ Barner for a short catch-and-run touchdown. That left the Jets at 14 and the Seahawks at 7 at the start of the second quarter.

On the ensuing kickoff, Jets running back Kene Nwangwu returned the kick for a touchdown and the Jets took a 21-7 lead.

The Seahawks fumbled again on the ensuing kickoff and the Jets were in business in Seahawks territory. The Jets drove the ball to the 10-yard line before Aaron Rodgers missed a wide-open Garrett Wilson in the end zone. The next gambling disaster occurred. As the Jets threatened to knock out the Seahawks, Rodgers threw a pick six to Leonard Williams. The Jets blocked the extra point attempt and the game suddenly ended with a touchdown 21-13 in favor of the Jets.

On the ensuing kickoff, Xavier Gipson made a great return, giving the Jets great field position at midfield. The Jets missed the opportunity and turned the ball over on downs. That gave the Seahawks excellent field position near midfield, and they took advantage with a short drive and a 54-yard field goal to make the score Jets 21, Seahawks 16 late in the second quarter.

Neither team scored again for the rest of the half.

The Jets go into the locker room leading the Seahawks by five points at 21-16.
