New York man charged with attempted murder after allegedly pushing a commuter into the path of the subway

A man is in critical condition after he was pushed onto the New York City subway tracks on New Year’s Eve, adding to a recent spate of violent incidents in the nation’s busiest subway system.

The victim, a 45-year-old man, miraculously survived when he was struck by an incoming No. 1 train at the 18th Street station. He suffered a head injury and was hospitalized in stable condition at Bellue Hospital on Tuesday evening, the New York Post reported.

“By the hand of God, he fell perfectly into the ditch,” a law enforcement source told the Post.

The NYPD received a 911 call reporting that there had been a robbery at the subway station on Tuesday afternoon.

NYPD is operating in a “heightened threat environment” leading up to New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The ordeal was captured on video and shows a hooded man at the edge of the platform and a victim looking at his phone as the train pulls into the station.

The video then shows a seemingly unsuspecting man being pushed onto the tracks and disappearing under the train.
