  • The Eagles lose LB Nakobe Dean in the playoffs due to a torn patellar tendon

The Eagles won their wild-card game against the Packers on Sunday, but lost a key member of their defense in the process: linebacker Nakobe Dean.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Dean tore his patellar tendon while attempting to bring down Packers TE Tucker Kraft early in the second quarter. He left the game, was taken to the locker room on a cart, and was quickly eliminated from the remainder of the contest.

The injury looked bad at first glance, and the reality could be even worse as the recovery could potentially cause Dean to miss the start of the 2025 season.

  • Commanders score exciting wild card win over Bucs

Generations passed in the NFL, and one thing was true for all but a few outliers: rookie quarterbacks struggled, they didn’t carry their teams to the playoffs, and they certainly didn’t go to the playoffs and win.

There were some rookie QBs who started for very good teams and had playoff appearances and even some wins. Only a few were the driving force behind these clubs. Not many rookie quarterbacks in NFL history have been Jayden Daniels.

He helped the Washington Commanders to a 23-20 win over the Tampa Bay Bucs on a Zane Gonzalez field goal that bounced off the upright and into the net in Sunday’s wild-card playoff game.

Daniels doesn’t look like a rookie at all, and hasn’t since the beginning of this season. He already looks like a superstar. Daniels was once again instrumental in the Commanders’ win that sent Washington to the divisional round, where they will face top-ranked Detroit on Saturday night. Daniels completed a fourth-down pass for a touchdown for the lead, and after the Buccaneers tied the game at 20-20 with 4:41 left, he calmly led the drive to victory. As he has done all season, Daniels was completely unfazed in pressure situations.
