Thanksgiving is just around the corner and the Detroit Lions have a chance to secure a spot in the playoffs by the end of Sunday. The Lions need a lot of help, but given that they are currently the No. 1 seed in the NFC, securing a wild card spot isn’t a big deal.

The Lions host their annual Thanksgiving game while the Chicago Bears come to town. The Bears are 4-7 and probably won’t make the playoffs, but they have shown some vibrancy in recent weeks. This is their third straight division game and they are coming off a 30-27 overtime loss to the Vikings last week and a 20-19 loss to the Packers the week before. Both have been at Soldier Field, but they have still been competitive in recent weeks.

Detroit is the 9.5-point favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook and if they win, they can clinch a playoff spot with six different possible outcomes. We’ll post the full list below, but if we ignore the ties due to their unlikely nature, the Lions have two possible scenarios in which they secure a playoff spot:

1. DET win + SF loss + ARI loss + SEA loss + TB loss
2. DET win + SF loss + ARI loss + SEA loss + WAS loss + ATL loss

The 49ers travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills Football on Sunday evenings. The 49ers are unlikely to have Brock Purdy available, and given their plethora of other injuries, they are strong underdogs. The Cardinals are 3.5 point underdogs against the Vikings, which could be a particular surprise, but Minnesota did its job. The Seahawks are 1.5-point away favorites against a bad Jets team, but Seattle doesn’t play ordinary games and that’s a small difference. In the remaining three games, the Bucs are away favorites against the Panthers, the Commanders are home favorites against the Titans and the Falcons are slight underdogs at home against the Chargers.
